Location ![]() Brossac is easily reached from the airports at Bordeaux (1 hour), Bergerac (1 hour), or La Rochelle (just over 90 minutes). The western crossings to either Caan, Le Havre, or Cherbourg, will deliver you onto a road network that is either motorway, or dual carriageway, for all the journey except for about 30 minutes of driving. Once here, relax! Obviously the coastal areas can get busy during the summer, but generally take the Charente view - "Traffic jam? - What traffic jam?"! Suggested routes - From Caen (via Brittany Ferries) or Le Havre (LD Lines), travel south to pick up the motorway at Alencon. Travel south through Le Mans and Tours, to Poitiers. Pick up the N10, past Angouleme, and onwards to Barbezieux. Take the second Barbezieux exit, signposted "Barbezieux - centre". Follow signs to either "Chalais" or "Brossac", taking the D731, a quiet country road. At the roundabout at Brossac Gare, turn right to the village of Brossac. Past the bank, Marie (Town Hall), and Spar Shop. Park at the War Memorial, and we are a few steps away in Rue de L'Etang Vallier. From Bordeaux Airport, use the ringroad, and then motorway, first to follow the Paris signs (A10), then the Angouleme signs (N10). Travel north on the N10 dual carriageway until (at a section where it is a single road), take the D2 direct to Brossac. On entering the village, past the tower house on the left, and follow the road around to the left. Park at the War Memorial, and we are a few steps away in Rue de L'Etang Vallier. From La Rochelle Airport, the suggested route is motorway south, and exit signposted "Pons". From Pons, take the D700/D731 past Archiac, to Barbezieux. From Barbezieux, follow instructions under "From Caen" above. We look forward to seeing you! |
